HI New York City Hostel

First of all, I want to say that this hostel is ideal for budget-friendly travelers like me. When you're visiting a city as expensive as New York, this hostel is honestly one of the best options. Even though the price can go up on some days, it’s still the most reasonable and reliable choice. I would highly recommend this hostel — not just for its affordability, but also for its location, friendly staff, comfortable environment, and clean rooms, bathrooms, kitchen, and balcony. There are plenty of spots inside the hostel to relax or get some work done. I really enjoyed my stay here. The hostel is easily reachable by subway from the airport — just two subway connections. Take the Number 1 subway line and get off at 103 St Station. The hostel is less than 100 meters from there. I also recommend getting a 7-day unlimited metro pass, which lets you explore all the amazing places in Manhattan and Brooklyn with ease. OMG — I had a beautiful 5-day trip and thoroughly enjoyed it! I honestly wish I had stayed at least 8 days to explore New York at a slower pace and really soak it all in. But those 4 days I stayed at this hostel were perfect for exploring: Times Square, DUMBO Brooklyn, Brooklyn and Manhattan Bridges, 9/11 Memorial, The High Line, The Vessel, The Empire State Building, Central Park, Grand Central Station, South Ferry, Wall Street Bull and so much more. For lunch, an affordable option is Bread & Butter [303 5th Ave, New York, NY 10016, United States], which is located near the Empire State Building. For dinner, try New York’s famous street food — The Halal Guys [6th Avenue & W 53rd St, New York, NY 10019] and Adel’s Famous Halal Food [1221 6th Ave, New York, NY 10020]. Both are excellent dinner spots and are located relatively close to the hostel. I highly recommend this hostel in every aspect. It's a top choice — seriously, I loved the vibe, the common spaces, the kitchen and washrooms, and especially the super friendly staff.

Old-ish rustic building but it does exactly what it needs to. Excellent location just a block away from the subway. Bed was comfy, fitted with a reading light and charging ports. When I arrived my bed looked like it had been occupied and not cleaned out, but the staff at the front desk quickly assigned me another bed no issue, which was very helpful of them. You do need your own lock for the locker, or you can buy one for $6 at the front desk. Bathrooms were clean, water pressure in the shower was just a little low and took a while for water to heat up, but still worked just fine. Towels and bedsheets provided for free.

I booked it for 82 dollars per day, a month ahead of my checkin while a day earlier on booking.com it was 52 dollars per day. I think they should standardise their rates on the basis of early booking. Hostel was nice, tidy, friendly staff, amenities, plenty of toilets and showers.

The hostel is next to two underground stations. It was clean when I was there. The bedroom is comfortable and the staff is kind.
